An overview and discussion of models Salzburg, March 14 - 15

The conference "Thematic Tourism - the Example of Mozart" welcomed 36 participants from 5 European countries (AT / CZ / DE / IT / UK).

The overall travel patterns have changed significantly in the recent years. There is a trend towards shorter journeys and consequently to late-booking decisions by the travellers. Thematic and cultural tourism represent specific areas of the tourism industry which have gained remarkable importance in this context.

In the course of four lectures, the development steps from thematic tourism to the concrete product, conditions for the formation of cultural tours and the opportunities of cultural tourism in the framework of EU projects were illuminated. The example of the German Castle Road clarified that only a strong internal marketing is the prerequisite for the external success.

On the basis of "best practices" Mozarthaus Vienna, the City of Salzburg and the International Mozart Festival in Rovereto, as an example for the cooperation of several towns in a region (Trentino), the participants were able to discuss the several concrete implementation of the Mozart theme in working groups and were led by the respective experts in exchanges to develop strategies for their own future work.
