International Festival W.A. Mozart

«Alla turca». Mozart and exoticism / Rovereto, Trento, Isera, Nogaredo, Villa Lagarina / 18/08/2012 to 26/08/2012

28.03.2012
The 25th Festival features a programme dedicated to the theme of exoticism, which was born as a music trend in Mozart’s times and became later a characteristic feature of the Western cultural panorama of the 19th century.

The festival presents some Mozart’s works such as "The abduction from the Seraglio", which is set in an exotic location. It explores the approaches to different musical traditions, before and after Mozart, from baroque compositions to some romantic and more modern "classics".

The cinema will propose the first European movie "The adventures of prince Achmed" by Lotte Reininger (1926), a silent movie featuring live music.

The highlight of the festival is a music party with musicians from an eastern tradition who live in Trentino. This event represents an exchange and a cultural conversation on themes such as the game between near and far and similar and different.

The initiatives for teenagers are also based on exoticism with the partnership with MART, music schools and the association AMI.
This year the school Regina Elena will be involved in the event with the production of the puppet show "The abduction of the Serail" with puppets create by Luciano Gottardi.

There will be also a course of music critic for students and graduates.
