50 years Mozart Society Schwetzingen

For the anniversary only the best

Legend: Pöltl, Grünstein, Simmert, Friedrich
In the anniversary year of the Schwetzingen Mozart Society, the audience will receive a Mozart Festival with a variety of highlights.

At the opening, the Ambassadors of the European Mozart Ways "Bella Musica" - young musicians of the Mozarteum Salzburg University - pay tribute to Leopold Mozart on his 300th birthday. The day after an other highlight occurs: The Theater Koblenz is celebrating the premiere of its new production "Don Giovanni" far away from the home stage directed by director Markus Dietze.

There are many new things to discover on the second weekend of the festival: three scholarship holders of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation are collaborating with the Heidelberg Philharmonic to stage a concert of works by the Mannheim School, and the Minguet Quartet presents a world premiere of the composer York together with clarinetist Nikolaus Friedrich Höller, the last master student of Alois Zimmermann.

These two weekends are complemented by a concert matinee of the Van Baerle Trio and a piano recital of the Viennese Classic with the pianist Lisa Smirnova, all of them are already acclaimed guests in Schwetzingen in recent years. The finale of the festival is heralded by gamba and harpsichord: Jakob David Rattinger and Ralf Waldner use their instruments to explore the music that influenced the young Mozart.

And last but not least a special bonbon, so to speak a festival in the festival: in three successive concerts, the Schumann Quartet and the Amaryllis Quartet will perform Mozart's ten large string quartets in chronological order.

The performances of the 44th Schwetzinger Mozartfest are now on sale, as well as the Children's Concert "Carnival of the Animals" on the first weekend of Advent and the New Year's Concert on January 1, 2020. Tickets are available at the Schwetzinger Zeitung and at all known VVK offices and online at
