Bella Musica Project 2022
August 28 - September 9 2022
This project has continued under strict security measures even during the pandemic and celebrated its tenth anniversary last year. Thanks to many sponsorships from institutions and private individuals, a concert series in the footsteps of Mozart could be planned again this year and starts today, Wednesday 24.8.2022 - under the artistic direction of Stefan David Hummel - with the journey to the rehearsal camp near Rome.
This year, the focus is on solidarity with Ukraine: in recent months, the Mozarteum University has taken in nearly 50 students from Ukraine due to the devastating war situation. Students from Ukraine will also be part of this project. We want to set a sign for a peaceful coexistence in Europe! What is possibly completely unknown to many people in this context is that Mozart's son Franz Xaver Mozart moved to Lviv (today's Lviv) in 1808 as a music teacher and lived there for many years as a successful pianist and music teacher.
The highlight of our trip, besides concerts in the Mozart cities of Terni, Rome, Terracina, Caserta and Ala-Rovereto, will undoubtedly be the performance in Naples in the Great Hall of the "Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella". We are happy to announce that in June 2022, in addition to the renowned "Conservatorio Santa Cecilia" in Rome, we could also establish a further cooperation with the important music university "Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella" in Naples: soon students from Naples and Salzburg will be able to connect with the Erasmus exchange program funded by the EU.
Another highlight of the trip is the performance at the Certosa di San Giacomo monastery on the island of Capri. Mozart also wanted to try to travel to Capri during his stay in Naples in 1770, but unfortunately this did not work out for logistical reasons. The Bella Musica Ensemble will arrive there by speedboat and then take a cable car to the performance venue. The concerts in Caserta, Naples and Capri will be organized as part of the "Festival Barocco Napoletano", together with the Siti Reali, a State Administration of Castles and Gardens that manages all the Bourbon palaces in Campania and has already allowed the Bella Musica project to perform many times since 2019.
25.8. - 4.9.2022 from Avigliano-Terni (Teatro Comunale) via Rome (Basilica di San Sant´Eustachio), Fondi-Terracina (Palazzo Caetani), Caserta (Reggia di Caserta), Capri (Certosa di San Giacomo), Naples (Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella), to Ala/Rovereto (Palazzo Pizzini).
