Musical Chain Letter - Musical pen pals
Project on the occasion of the Leopold Mozart year – 300 Years of Birthday
Final presentation Augsburg November 16
Leopold Mozart was one of the most interesting and multi-layered personalities of his time - and a very diligent letter writer. His letters today give us a deep insight into the living conditions, joys and needs of the Mozart family.
Five classes from Augsburg, Munich, Salzburg, Linz and Vienna - cities along one of Leopold's most frequent itineraries - took a close look at the letters, highlighted themes, and transformed them into sounds and tonwa under the guidance of music educators and professional musicians. They wrote each other letters to introduce themselves and their cities, and to get to know each other a bit. On 16 November, shortly after Leopold's 300th birthday, all the pupils met in Augsburg to perform their compositions in the Kleiner Goldenen Saal, the former Jesuit college where Leopold was at school!
